Purpose: Create menu groups (e.g. Appetizer, Ramen, Drinks) to group items so sales can be totalled by group in reports. For: owners, managers, Adoluna onboarding staff.
Before you start: according to the website docs, menu groups are for reporting only; they don’t affect how menus show or are arranged on the POS, Kiosk or online (that is controlled by menus and categories; see 2.3.4 How to create and sort menu categories). Categories and items need a menu group, so create groups first (see 3.6.1 How to build a new menu from scratch (setup order)).
Steps #
1. In the Backoffice left menu, click Menu > ① Menu Group to open the menu group list. Its columns are #, Name, Status and Operate; the demo store has Appetizer, Ramen, Poke, Drinks and Key Chain. A green dot under ③ Status means the group is enabled. Click ② + Add New to add a group.

2. Fill in ④ Name (English) and Name (中文) (required), leave ⑤ Enable on, and ⑥ click Save.

3. Use the group: choose it under Menu Group in the category form and the item form (see 2.3.4 How to create and sort menu categories, 2.3.5 How to add menu items). You can also add a group directly with + Add New next to Menu Group in either form.
Notes / FAQ #
-
Menu groups don’t have to match categories. For example, several drink categories can all belong to the Drinks group so they are totalled together in reports.
-
Menu groups are used by the Menu Group Sale report (sales totalled by menu group). A category’s Menu Group is only the default for new items in that category; the menu group chosen in each item’s form is the one that counts.
