Purpose: Before opening, use test orders to check ordering, printing, card payments, cash, the cash drawer and Batch one by one, so opening day goes smoothly. For: Adoluna onboarding staff (Jay uses it on site), store managers.
Before you start: use small amounts, and void or refund test orders afterwards so they don’t affect reports. Tick each box as you go.
1. Devices and login #
-
☐ Every POS can log in and shows the right station name at the top left of the home screen (see 1.1.1 How to log in and out of the POS, 1.1.2 How to find your way around the POS home screen).
-
☐ The POS home screen doesn’t show a red Local Service Offline (see 4.4.1 What to do when the Local Server is offline).
-
☐ The customer display is bound and showing (see 3.5.1 How to set up the customer display); any Kiosk opens its ordering screen (see 3.5.2 How to configure a Kiosk).
2. Ordering and printing #
-
☐ Place one test order of each order type: dine-in, to-go, pickup, delivery (see 1.2.1 How to start a dine-in order, 1.2.2 How to start a to-go order, 1.2.3 How to take a phone pick-up order, 1.2.4 How to take a delivery order).
-
☐ Order at least one item for every kitchen mapping, send it, and check each item printed at the right kitchen printer (see 3.3.3 How to set up printer mapping and route items to kitchen printers; wrong printer: 4.2.2 Why did an item print at the wrong kitchen printer?).
-
☐ Modifiers and notes print on kitchen tickets.
-
☐ Guest checks, receipts and packager tickets print automatically (or not) as the store wants (see 3.3.4 How to set up automatic printing of checks, receipts and packager tickets).
-
☐ With a label printer, label content and position are right (see 3.3.5 How to set up a label printer).
3. Payments #
-
☐ An employee does Cashier In (see 1.5.3 How to start a cash drawer (Cashier In)), settles a test order in cash, and the drawer opens (see 3.3.6 How to set up a cash drawer, 1.3.1 How to take a cash payment).
-
☐ Run a small test payment on each card terminal (see 1.3.2 How to take a credit card payment): the amount reaches the terminal, tip and signature appear as set, and merchant / guest copies print (see 3.4.1 How to add a PAX terminal, 3.4.2 How to set up a Bolt terminal, 3.4.3 How to connect a Clover Go 3 / VP3350 card reader).
-
☐ With a VP3350 / VP3300, guests can choose a tip and sign on the customer display (see 1.3.10 How guests add a tip and sign on the customer display).
-
☐ Test a split payment or split check (see 1.3.5 How to take a partial or split-tender payment, 1.3.7 How to split a check by item).
-
☐ Test a gift card payment if the store sells gift cards (see 1.3.3 How to pay with a gift card).
-
☐ Place and pay a test order on the Kiosk, if there is one (see 1.8.1 How guests order and pay at the Kiosk).
4. Voids, refunds and Batch #
-
☐ Void an unpaid test order (see 1.4.5 How to void an unpaid order); refund a paid card test (see 1.4.7 How to refund an order).
-
☐ Check the POS report shows the right amounts and payment types for the test orders (see 1.5.6 How to view, print or email POS reports).
-
☐ Reconcile, then run a Batch (see 1.6.2 How to reconcile card transactions before batching, 1.6.3 How to close a credit card batch) and confirm it succeeded in Batch History (see 1.6.4 How to view batch history). Ideally run a real Batch during go-live testing; no Batch problems have come up so far, but a real one confirms the whole flow in advance.
-
☐ Confirm the auto Batch time (see 2.2.3 How to set up Auto Batch).
5. Wrap-up #
-
☐ Void or refund all test orders, and have the store manager check the report if needed.
-
☐ Note any problems and contact the technical team: +1 (866) 588-8868, support@adoluna.com.

Printer not printing: 4.2.1 What to do when a printer isn’t printing; terminal won’t connect: 4.1.2 What to do when the card terminal doesn’t respond; Batch failed: 4.1.3 What to do when a batch fails or doesn’t reconcile.

Orders with a refund can’t be voided (see 4.1.4 Why can’t I void an order that has a refund?). When testing, void one order and refund a different one; don’t refund and then void the same order.
